And the Cherry On Top Is...

Look! Another photo of my boy eating something that requires mastication! Am I the luckiest girl on the planet or what? My son ate pizza! I am so fucking proud.

And where did we get that pizza, you ask? At my local Whole Foods market, where we just so happened to stumble upon a TV shoot for one of my favorite shows Good Eats. Hosted by the ever-so-slightly-sexy-in-that-bookish-kind-of-way-Atlanta-area-native Alton Brown!

I headed over to Whole Foods a little before five to pick up some odds and ends, and as soon as I walked through the door I saw grocery carts loaded up not with milk and eggs, but industrial lighting equipment and big spools of wire. Being a huge fan of Good Eats, I had suspected that this particular Whole Foods had served as a backdrop for other episodes. My mind went blank as far as my grocery list was concerned as I set to the task of scoping out the store. I was about halfway through the aisles when I spotted him. He was all the way at the other end of the dairy row. I made a quick turn and headed in his direction. Even though I was in the refrigerated section, I could feel the sweat rolling down my back as my pace and my pulse quickened.

I didn't want to make a total ass of myself, so before I blurted out anything, I made sure that no actual filming was going on at the moment. Once I was sure I wouldn't ruin the scene, I strolled casually near to where the Mr. Brown was chatting with some behind-the-scenes person. My slow mosey caught his attention, and when he looked up, the gushing began. I confessed to being a huge fan. I then told him how Sam is also a huge fan, which is true. Something about the guy cracks my kid up every time he sees him on TV. After a few more incoherent blubbers, I walked away. I really wanted to ask him to pose for a picture with Sammy, but I could tell he wanted to get on with his business. So I squelched the urge.

I then proceeded to call every single person I knew (who I thought would care), but NO FREAKING ONE answered their damn phones! I especially couldn't wait to tell my dad. Ever since we moved here, whenever I ask him 'Guess what?' his response is 'You met Alton Brown!' Naturally, I couldn't get in touch with my dad for almost three hours, at which point I was so pissed that I barely enjoyed telling him the news. Not really. I was as giddy as a school girl. But you get my point.

All in all, one of the high points of my life here in Atlanta.

And even better? As I type this, my sister-in-law's plane is landing! Oh hurrah and praise for the girl who will save me from having to carry my toddler up the stairs while I'm still in this horrible gestational state!

I am a happy girl today.

Sounds like a great day all around. I met him once and he was very sweet. I'd take one of him for a hundred Rachel Rays any day of the week.

Yeah, Rachel Ray kind of gives me the willies with her perkiness.
