Developmentally, Sam is either age appropriate or advanced in all arenas save one: speech. Vocally he's at about the level of a 17-month old. I'm not really surprised or upset. I was expecting that he would be delayed at least somewhat. From here we get a visit from a speech therapist every other week until he's speaking at an age appropriate level.
I can't even really think to much about it because in a few hours my house will be filled with my parents, my uncle and his partner, my in-laws and my sister-in-law and her husband. Plus us and Allison and her boy friend. And they're all sleeping here this weekend.
Pray for me.

My friend Diane's son never uttered a sound until his second birthday, when he screamed NO!!! at his cake.
He's a mathematical and musical genius, and he doesn't shut up at age 13. He gets straight A's, even in English.
A girl at work who works with speech delays started speaking at 4, and now I want to sew her mouth shut. Also, she says that kids with stay-at-home moms are usually 4 -6 months behind because of the strong bonds with their moms, and those kids are on par with people our age + who stayed home with our moms. And that's acctually a good thing! This early speech stuff is relatively new.
I'm sure he'll be up to speed in no time. Sounds like you have a full house ... hope you have fun, at least!
From what little I still remember of my Child Development / Ed. Theory classes, a gap of not-quite-7-months is relatively minor, especially since he's keeping up with his peers (or leaving them in the dust, which is, I suspect, the case in most areas) otherwise. Not that knowing that helped make me any less obsessive over it when I heard that we needed to watch LG for a "potential language delay".
Enjoy your company -- do you have hammocks for the stairway?!
When you mentioned all the people that are staying at your house all I can think is, "Good Lord the woman has lost her marbles."

And Sam....I think you should take Lora's words to heart. In 11 years you will probably not be able to keep him quiet!
