Conflict Resolution

Last night SOB and I had an argument. It was a tired old fight we've had many times over the past five years regarding his work hours. Something I've mentioned here before and something which neither one of us can control. At first things were heated and some unpleasant words were exchanged. But later on we were able to calm down and discuss things like rational adults. Today he decided to buy me something to 'make it up to me.' A novel concept for both of us. He presented me with a lovely package with a big bow.

I didn't want it.

Truth: I wanted it. But not under these circumstances. Before I even opened it I knew that whatever it was, I would always associate it with this continued unpleasantness. So I decided before I even saw what was in the box that I was going to return it. And I did.

But that's not to say that I didn't exchange it!

I decided that I should return the favor, so this afternoon at Target I bought this for SOB:

A bounty of clearance Easter candy!

He loved it. And it only cost about 95% less than my present!
