Lucy: Month Ten

My sweet little Lucy -

Ten months! Hooray for double digits, although boo because it freaks me out that I'm already starting to think about your birthday. This have been a very fun month, for sure. After last month's teething debacle you have been nothing but sweetness and light!

The other day I decided to consult a milestone checklist (because I'm a self hating mama) and I was a little concerned that you weren't doing many of the things on the checklist. I think perhaps you might have slipped into my room unnoticed and read that list yourself because within two days you had mastered almost every single task. Getting into a seated position from your belly? Check. Crawling? Check! Cruising? Check!

Now that you're on the move you either want to be free to roam or in my arms. Often when you get tired of crawling you'll pull yourself to my feet, clutch my ankles and scream until I pick you up. We'll spend some time this way and you love it. When I sit down you like to stand facing me and play with my face and hair. As long as you don't pull I love it too!

We've been spending a lot of time in the great outdoors AKA our yard. The grass fascinates you. You also just love watching your brother romp about nearby. He'll occasionally stop by and give you a kiss or a tickle, which makes you squeal.

We've experimented with swimming in the yard pool. At the Y you seemed to adore splashing around, but perhaps that's because they keep the water temperature around 85. At home, you are not impressed. Even when I put funny things on your head.

Very skeptical, to say the least. You don't mind sitting nearby and watching Sam play, occasionally putting one tiny hand in the water. We'll continue to work on that.

These warm days have been some of the best of my life. When you're older I hope you have some wisp of a memory from these times. If not, I'll always be happy to remind you of just how wonderful you've made all of our lives.

Love, Mama

And just think how you cried to be losing your 'family of three'....
