The Pursuit of Happiness

My children have toys. Lots and lots of toys. Honestly, too many toys. So they shouldn't have trouble keeping themselves entertained on a dreary, rainy indoor day like today, right?

Normally, I would say yes. And until today I would be telling the truth. Naturally there are squabbles. Usually they involve Sam snatching toys from Lucy. She cries, he gets a time out, he cries. Rinse, lather, repeat. Right now there are seven (7) toys on my mantle, which is the only place in my house they can't reach or climb to. Why?

Because Lucy learned how fight back. And the bitch fights dirty.

Since she lacks the agility and speed of Sam, when he steals whatever she's playing with she attacks the only way she can. She grabs. She pinches. She pulls. It happened for the first time around 8 this morning and it was like a veil was lifted from her eyes. She didn't stop until we put them both to bed at 6 this evening.

And Sam, well once he's been attacked his instinct is to attack in kind, usually in the form of pushing and shoving.

All of these attacks lead to copious amounts of crying, screaming, snotting, etc. Tack onto that the absence of a nap for Sammy and you can understand why my head is pounding and my nerves are shot.

If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and down some Chardonnay and thank my lucky stars that both kids are going to school tomorrow. Salut!

Oh my word, do I know how it is LOL! Once that little one figures out how to fight back its all over. Peace and quiet, that is. ;)

I remember the first time the BA sicked a little boy back. Prior to that she had looked to me for comfort and resolution. No hesitation this time though. I kind of like that.
Good luck with your battling babies though.
