Grace

Over at Picture This, Tracy was moved to post a 'graceful' shot of her daughter in response to the Mama Says Om weekly theme. Here in Florida, we're situated right off of a golf course where these large, graceful birds roam freely, occasionally coming over to pick at some of the neighbors' gardens. There is no point of reference in this photo, but these suckers are huge! At least four feet high, if not bigger. I don't have a great zoom lens, so I kept trying to creep closer to this one, which was walking with a partner. Finally, when I got about ten feet away, they both stopped walking and looked right at me. Their bird faces clearly said 'back off, bitch.' Their beaks look like they could do some serious damage, so I complied and let them eat in peace.

Very graceful, but wow, 4 feet tall? Nice capture...from a distance. ;)

I always wonder how animals like that make their way through the world...they seem to defy all laws of gravity. That type of bird is on the top of the list of marvels.

They are pretty wild. We've seen them almost every day when we're walking to the pool. I'm hoping to earn their trust by the end of the week. Hopefully I'll return home with all of my digits and both of my eyeballs!
