April Fool

Hey! Remember me? I've been gone so long I won't fault you if you do. This was an unplanned hiatus, however it was a necessary one. You see, first I was busy doing this:

Do you see my blurry hand? I was furiously (and quite quickly, if I do say) making pirogies. There will be a whole post, a la The Pioneer Woman, about those little delicious potato pockets. Which were eaten by these lovely ladies:

Who were in town to celebrate the wedding of our wonderful friends Chrissie and Juan!

Please excuse the stems. I thought I was being artistic.

All of this was quite nice. Pleasant and fun and enjoyable for all involved.

Then today we went to the ENT. Sam and I had to have our hearing checked. He's fine. Still a little fluid in his ears, but the doctor, who is uber-experienced, is not worried at all. His hearing test was fine, which was awesome. Mine, however, was not. Now I have to go back and see another specialist and have several more tests done. Either way, I have already lost some of my hearing and will never be able to recover it. The main focus will now to be prevent any additional hearing loss, if possible. Yay for me! Going deaf at 29!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go put some ear plugs in. There are men jackhammering in my basement and it's loud as fuck. I can just feel my cochleas dying slow painful deaths as I write.

Oh! Crap news about your ears. (good news about Sam though). Why are they hammering in your basement?

Yum, pirogies! Handmade, no less. Lucky, lucky ladies.

Yay! for Sam's good hearing. Maybe your less than perfect diagnosis is a blessing in disguise. I can only imagine the noise levels reached by two under the age of 3!

I didn't know you had a problem with your hearing. WTF, lady, WTF?

Good about Sam though.
