The Perfect Playground

The little town one over from ours is a little slice of heaven here on earth. We tried so hard to find a house there, but since it's such an awesome place to live no one ever leaves, i.e. there were very few houses for sale. All the people are friendly, there are lovely little shops, it has the best french bakery in the universe (except for maybe one or two in France, I suppose), there is an old movie theater and finally, it houses the world's greatest playground. It's not just the quality of the equipment, however, that makes this playground great. It's positioned right next to a little league field and some basketball courts, and at almost any time of day a pickup game of some variety is happening. There is an ice cream store nearby as well, and countless kids run wild, faces dripping with rocky road. You almost feel like you've been taken back in time, and it's hard not to smile, wherever you are.

Add to the mix the fact that Sam adores this place above all others and you can see why we're willing to walk almost half an hour or schlep into the car to go there when the weather permits.

Sam gives Lucy her first swing ride

Our trip there on Tuesday marked Lucy's first foray into the swings. At first Aunt Allison pushed her as I pushed Sam in the next swing over. All of a sudden he insisted on getting down. He ran over to Auntie and ordered her out of the way. He was going to take care of his Bebee. For 20 minutes he pushed her in the swing, and the sight of it brought tears to my eyes.

So while this photo isn't quite perfect, it captured a perfect moment. At the perfect playground. In the perfect town.

One flipping town over from mine.

That is awesome! Pretty soon they'll be keeping secrets and building forts! :-)

That is just too sweet! That playground does sound perfect, too. Towns like that are few and far between these days.

And how wonderful to have someone to push for you. Boy the days of playgrounds seem very far away now and yet......
