Where, Oh Where Has My Baby Boy Gone?

Last week I took the kids to Idlewild Park with my parents. Despite being on his second consecutive day without a nap, Sam had a blast. The first few rides we braved were all ones where the family could ride along. First we went on the train and then we took a trip into the land of make believe on Mr. Roger's Trolley.

This one really got me misty. Luckily Sam didn't cry, too. He was having a blast. Lucy seemed to enjoy it as well. Since we had so much success on the family rides, I decided to let Sam try riding one of the kiddie rides alone. The first two were for very small children, so I wasn't too much of a basket case. Then his older cousin Max wanted to ride a bigger kid car ride. Well, naturally Sam decided that the only thing he wanted out of life was to ride the same thing as Max. I checked with the height requirements and the ride attendant, and much to my surprise Sam was more than qualified to ride. Even though it was a bit tough for me, I let him climb into this car and drive off into the sunset.

I couldn't believe how serious he was. I think he actually believed he was driving that blue car. I took a bunch of pictures of him, but only a few came out because, to be honest, I was crying again. Not just misty, but full on weeping, in public, over a kiddie ride.

God help me when he gets his actual driver's license.

I think I'd be a bit (or more than a bit!) misty over seeing him drive off like a big boy, too! Looks like and awesome place.

Ohhh I feel you! Not that Mia is that big, but your son driving off in the car reminded me the first time Mia walked away from me...it wasn't really 'away' from me...more to the slide..but she did it on her own and without me. It's little moments like these that really tug at my heart.

Gorgeouse shots :)

Okay, so here I was feeling all creative when I came up with that comment, pushed publish, then looked up at the title of your post. *Smacking forehead*

Proving once again that sometimes it's better if I just read and leave the commenting to those better qualified to be clever.

I'm sure watching him drive away on a car was a shock to your system. Apparently as a boy my husband managed to hop one of those cars right off the track. Whoops!
