Today is my first Monday in our new house. I'm eating lemon scones our neighbor baked for us and looking out over the hazy green hills and feeling pretty good. The move went smoothly, we made a huge dent in the unpacking, and our new furniture is arriving on Thursday.
Before we left, things were going pretty well, too. One thing that made me so happy was that all of my flowers blossomed before the move. I didn't think I was going to see any of the rose of Sharon flowers, but on Wednesday morning I found a single bloom at the very top of one branch. It was like they had all come out to say goodbye.
It was the perfect send-off.

beautiful flowers! i particularly love the lily. glad your moved went smoothly and i hope you're looking a beautiful blooms like theses in around your new home soon.
so lovely! i think the hardest thing when we moved was to say goodbye to the garden we had created and nurtured for over 13 years ... how nice yours waved goodbye!
Good luck in the new house. Even though we have never meet face to face I think I am going to miss you being in the Philly Area!
I agree with Lis- the hardest thing for me to leave at my last house was my Shasta Daisy bush.
Excellent send off. I remember closing the door on my house in the UK and looking out on the most amazing sunset (they don't get many sunsets in the UK...too much cloud usually :-D)...
Is the Rose of Sharon also known as a cistus?
